Dear Comrade and Friend,

Tom Alter is undertaking a formal appeal of his firing at Texas State. On November 10th a subcommittee of the Texas State Board of Regents will meet in preliminary review of his case for appeal.  On Nov. 20 and 21st, the Board will meet to rule on his appeal.

We need to influence this decision and help Tom win his appeal. We are writing today to ask you to send a personalized version of one of the letters (to the right) to each of the email addresses and/or fax numbers provided below.

If you are an academic, we ask that you send the “Academic Letter” so identifying yourself. 

If you are not an academic, we ask that you send the other letter named “Civil Society Letter.”

If you are an academic, labor, or civil rights organization, we urge you to adopt whichever of these letters seems most appropriate and send it forward.

WE ASK THAT YOU SEND THE LETTER IMMEDIATELY.  We need a large-scale pressure campaign on TSU before the November 10th hearing.

WE ALSO ASK THAT YOU CALL EACH OF THE PHONE NUMBERS BELOW AND DEMAND TOM’S REINSTATEMENT.
